SIX SIMPLE SECRETS TO STUDY THE BIBLE

There are no good shortcuts in the study of the Bible, but there are secrets. They are not difficult to learn, or complicated. The problem is not perceived by haste, inattention or experience, or because we only want shortcuts. Consider six things are often not taken into account, but is found to be key benefit of studying the Bible.

Secret Number One

The first secret is the same Spirit of God. Yes! You know you will not go very far in studying the Bible without him? This is because it is he who inspired the Bible, and therefore, remember, is a spiritual book. You can read a textbook without knowing the author, and not enjoy a good relationship with him, but not so with the Bible. Consider what 1 Corinthians 2:11-14 has to say about it:

"For who among men knows the things of man except the spirit of man which is in him? So no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. And we have not received spirit world, but the Spirit who is from God, so we know what God has given us, what we speak, not in words taught by human wisdom but in those taught by the Spirit, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he can not understand, because they are spiritually discerned. "

The Holy Spirit is "the anointing" teaches us (1 Jn. 2:27), is the Teacher forgotten or unknown in academia. It is important that we desire to learn, and a good relationship with Master, to advance in the things of God. Proverbs 2:1-11 gives us advice about how to find and learn the wisdom of God

"Son, if you accept my words and treasure my commands within you, so your ear to wisdom, if incline your heart to understanding, if you cry after knowledge, wisdom and lift up your voice, if and to seek the silver and search for her as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous, is a shield unto them that walk directly. He keepeth the paths of justice, and preserves the way of his saints. Then you will understand righteousness and justice and equity and every good path. When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul, discretion will preserve you, you will preserve the intelligence. "

This text is clear that it is our responsibility to seek wisdom as if it were a treasure, because it is. Is the language of human responsibility: " if you receive" "store up", "making your ear" if you incline your heart "," if you cry ... and lift up your voice, "if and to the seek the silver, "and the search for her as for hidden treasures." You and I are have to do these things, not God. We see God's sovereignty in these terms: "The Lord gives wisdom" ; "from his mouth come knowledge and understanding"; "He layeth up sound wisdom," "is a shield," "save the paths of justice, and preserves the way of his saints ". God will do His part without any problems. The question is whether we'll do ours. One of the first steps on the road to study the disposition of the heart to God in prayer, leaning God, seeking and hoping that the Lord teach us. In this way we recognize our dependence on the Holy Spirit, and accept Him as our Master. Wisdom comes from God, not from books and seminars, or certificates and diplomas. The poorest and humblest of the believers can follow the advice of Proverbs 2:1-11, at home, in the setting of their local church, without having to go to any school. This is what some call "the school of Mary", meaning, learning at the feet of Jesus. The Word of God and God promises to teach you wisdom, knowledge and intelligence.
In Ephesians 6:17 the Bible is called: "Sword of the Spirit" , recognizing the relationship between the Holy Spirit and the Word of God. It is true that without the Spirit of God no one can understand the Bible as we have to understand it. You can learn historical data and the like, and can invent their own interpretations and ideas about the Bible, such as sects do. But to understand the Bible correctly you need the Spirit of God and His glorious ministry LIGHT, as seen in the quotation above. Not enlighten us men, but God. This is very significant for believers. We must be careful not to quench or grieve the Spirit of God dwells in us. If there is sin in your life that you have not court and you have not the same paragraph, the Spirit of God is hindered by this, and consequently this diminishes your understanding of His Word. Why? Because the Holy Spirit, and will not bless your studies or light if you do not live in personal holiness.
Maybe that's why the first secret is not very dear, because it demands of us consecration and holiness in everyday life. But it is, and how important is this Secret Bible study! There are many who have no desire, or do not benefit, or do not enjoy studying the Bible, simply because they walk in personal holiness and in obedience to the Lord Jesus Christ! God said we must glorify Him in our bodies and our spirit, which are from Him (1 Cor 6:19-20). Let me ask you the same questions I ask myself. Are you living as the first secret? Does the Holy Spirit complete freedom in your life?

WANT TO BE MODERN?

"For ever, O Lord, thy word heaven "
(Ps. 119:89).

Want to be contemporary? Be contemporary is to date expiration. Popular music is constantly changing. The songs of 50 years ago today are not popular. Advertising is driven by the changes. Dress fashions changed so that people will buy a new wardrobe. And the popular morality has changed dramatically over the past 50 years. But the church is bound to change. Is called to be stable and firm, a rock in a sea of \u200b\u200bchange. The Bible does not change. God's instructions to the churches have not changed. His moral absolute has not changed. Sin is still sin. Do not get carried away by contemporary ideas. Cling to the Word of God to have stability in your life. Donald

Rich and Poor in Proverbs 19
William MacDonald

"Wealth makes many friends, but the poor is separated from his friend" (Proverbs 19:4). It is possible that the rich will never know who your real friends, because they have many "friends" selfish (Proverbs 14:20). Not so with the poor. Prevent them from parasitic friends because there is hope of benefiting from his friendship. Unfortunately this is true in Christian work and in the world. In many places outside the Christian who has and dispenses money as offerings await with anxiety, while a poor brother who ministers the word is not received with the same warmth.
"Many seek the favor of the nobility, and everyone is a friend of the man who gives" (Proverbs 19:6). People want to interact with the rich in the hope of receiving something. Anyone can win friends nominal (surface) for generous gifts. The term "rice Christians" refers to those who profess Christians due to the material benefits of being close to the mission that provides food, money, transportation, labor, etc. There are Christian missionaries who have achieved adherents through the provision of money, food or clothing. The balance between the gospel and social service is a delicate and sometimes difficult and requires great discernment.
"All the brothers of the poor do hate him much more do his friends avoid him! Search for the word, and not find it " (Proverbs 19:7). In contrast, the poor brothers treated him with scorn, and called friends treat him with enough disdain. No matter how you try to ingratiate themselves, they do not want associated with it. Why? Because he has money that could benefit them.
"The Lord provides the giving to the poor and the good he has done, I will pay" (Proverbs 19:17). God considers kindness to the poor as if we paid him to compensate him for such promises. Think about it - a loan to the Lord! It is a sublime description of a common gift! If you really believe this verse, it must affect our offerings.

us what we spend, we lost.
become treasures are infinite, Lord, what you provide.
Everything comes from you!
What, sir, you pay, be paid a thousand times,
So happy you offerings.
Everything comes from you!
