The physical pain is hard to bear, but the emotional pain is more intense and heartbreaking. Thank the Lord, we persevere, knowing that we have something that is better than any drug: the certainty of eternal happiness where the pain is abolished forever! Our Lord with His great power make all things new. Amen Come, Lord Jesus!

LOVE IS THERE
IN THE OLD TESTAMENT?

Some say no, and that they do not like the Old Testament. But those who speak and show their ignorance, and as the saying goes, ignorance is very bold. Those who read and study the Old Testament, which makes up almost two thirds of the Bible, we know that there is much love there, both good and bad. Really what is known and taught about biblical love is rooted in the Old Testament, not New, but in the New we see the greatest manifestation of God's love in the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ (Jn. 3: 16). Here are just a sample of texts about love in the first part of the Bible.

Genesis

In Genesis 18:24-32 Abraham interceded for Sodom, appealing to God's love to the righteous. 26:24 In God appeared to Isaac and promised to bless "for the sake of my servant Abraham" . The faithful love of God is the basis of the covenants with Abraham and his descendants.

Exodus

Moses in Exodus 18:8 Jethro his father was telling the deeds of God to lead the Israelites out of Egypt, "by love of Israel " . The liberation from slavery in Egypt was a sign of divine love for Israel. Then in Exodus 20:6 the Lord says: "showing mercy unto thousands of them that love Me and keep My commandments" . In Deuteronomy 7:7-8 Moses declares that God loved and chose Israel to be more than other peoples, "but because the Lord loved you" , ie a character motivated by love of God, not by them . In the next verse says: "Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy to those who love Him and keep His commandments to a thousand generations" , linking love again obedience. Thus we see that the topic of love comes highlighted and emphasized by repetition in the Pentateuch. The love of God is the cause and the effect he seeks the love of his people. Christ said that the whole law is summed up in two commandments: love God and love neighbor. But today we have the same problem that was then. The man does not love God with all and especially not love your neighbor as yourself. By nature every one loves himself, and indeed is what modern society teaches and esteem: self-love (2 Ti. 3:2).
